Man robbed early Friday at Independence's Rotary Park

A man was robbed at Rotary Park in Independence early Friday morning.

Police said the man was standing alone by his car talking on his cell phone at 2:45 a.m. Friday at Rotary Park, 10615 E. 24th St., when two men approached him and asked him for a light.

The men, described as black, about 6 feet tall, then began assaulting him and demanding keys to his car. Threatening the man with a knife, the men then drove off in his car.

The victim refused medical attention.

The stolen vehicle was observed on two occassions later that morning, once in Raytown and once in Kansas City, but police were unable to stop the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the crime should call 816-474-TIPS.
