Gunpoint robbery

An Independence man was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday.
At 12:19 a.m. Independence police showed up at Peck Court and Fifth Street in reference to an armed robbery.
The victim said he needed a ride home from a convenience store on U.S. 24 and Dover Avenue, according to police.
During the ride, the driver pulled out a handgun and demanded all his money, which the man handed over.
The victim wasn’t injured. The man probably knew the suspect.
The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s. The car is a green Ford Taurus.
Police say they may be close to capturing the suspect.
