UPDATE: Independence police reported that Conn was found safe about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday. Police spokesman Tom Gentry said the Chillicothe Police Department had notified Independence officials about 10 p.m. that the man's credit card had been used at a Casey's store there.

He said the man's family had continually searched for him, and that his son finally spotted the missing man in his vehicle near U.S. 24 and Lee's Summit Road.

Independence police have issued a silver alert for a man from Independence who has not been seen since Tuesday morning.

Police spokesperson Tom Gentry said that Tony Conn, 73, was last seen Thursday morning when he was searching for his wife at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit. He had dropped her off at the hospital earlier in the day.

Conn, who lives in the 16200 block of East 31st Street Terrace South, is 6-foot-1, 210 pounds and suffers from dementia. He was wearing a burgundy sweatshirt, blue jeans and a blue sweatshirt. Gentry said he uses reading glasses and could be wearing them.

Conn drives a hunter green Ford Taurus station wagon with the license plate UE1-M6J.
