A woman remains in critical condition after being stabbed Monday night in a Blue Springs motel.
According to the Blue Springs Police Department, the 35-year-old women was stabbed multiple times in the chest around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Knight’s Inn and Suites, 3400 N.W. Jefferson St.
Sgt. Joe Fanara, public information officer with the Blue Springs Police Department, said the suspect is the woman’s 51-year-old husband. The couple, who lived in the hotel in different rooms and on different floors, are estranged.
The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital and remains in critical condition. However, Fanara said she is expected to survive. The suspect, who has also not been identified, fled the scene after the incident and was picked up by the Kansas City Police Department Tuesday. Because no weapon was found at the scene, Fanara said it is unclear what was used in the incident.
Charges are pending as the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office looks over the case and are expected within the next couple of days.
