The city clerk performs the role of official record keeper for the city, serves as assistant to the mayor and Board of Aldermen as well as human resources coordinator for city. Qualified applicants must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, meet deadlines, communicate effectively and have extensive computer skills.
Qualified applicants must have an associates degree or three to five years equivalent experience in a related field. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Preference may be given to applicants with prior municipal government experience. The salary range is $38,189 to $55,120.

2010 Spring Indoor Craft Show
Saturday, March 27, the 2010 Spring Indoor Craft Show will be held at the Grain Valley Community Center between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Vendor booths are available, with an approximately 10-by-10-foot space. Two chairs will be provided, vendors will be responsible for their own tables, none will be provided.
Booth spaces are sold on first-come, first-served basis and fill up quickly. Electric spaces are available but limited so register early. Red Cross Babysitting certification
Monday, May 10 and 17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the American Red Cross will hold babysitting classes at the Grain Valley Community Center. The course is especially designed for students ages 11-15 years of age.
Participants will receive training and experience in first aid. They will also learn how to handle emergency situations that may arise while caring for younger individuals. Feeding, diapering, and holding a baby properly will also be covered during the two-day session.
Entertaining young children, which can be challenging at times, will be covered. Also methods of interacting with both children and parents will be discussed. Students will be guided in finding safe babysitting jobs.
The cost for the two-day session is $50; each student will receive a handbook. Certificates will be awarded to those completing the course. For more information on certification call the American Red Cross 816 841-5293. Classes will be held at the Grain Valley Community Center at 713 Main St.
