Meeting someone new, one slice of life at a time

Once upon a time people locked up diaries and took extreme measures to make sure no one could read their innermost thoughts.

Not me.

Even when I was in middle school, I kept my diary out in visibility almost in hopes someone would read the clever entries I wrote with my cool Lisa Frank pencils. In fact, I’ve always written in my journals or diary as if someday I’d be the next Anne Frank and people all over would find them and read them.

Instead of waiting on that slightly disturbing dream, I’ve been given the opportunity to write a weekly “slice of life” column right here every Wednesday.

This first entry reminds me of the first date, when you want the other person to just magically know everything about you, so you can skip that introduction nonsense and get right to the good stuff. I actually told a date once that I wish I could just take a flash drive and download all of the “routine first date Q and A” into his brain so we could talk about the important stuff.

I want you to already know about my cool job with the Kansas City Royals (I get to run in the hot dog suits and dance on dugouts) and the awesome time I have as a high school Spanish and American Sign Language teacher. So in an attempt to allow you to get to know me a little better, I’ve decided to borrow this bio I just filled out for my job with the Royals.

Enjoy!

Best thing about K Crew: I get paid to do things that I would do for free.

Favorite Royals player: I know he’s not a player, but I’m a pretty big fan of Trey Hillman.

Favorite restaurant in KC: California Pizza Kitchen

What would your batting intro song be? “Here Comes The Bride”

Favorite TV show: “The Bachelor.” And yes, I know I should be embarrassed.

Favorite food: S’mores by a campfire.

Dream job: Anything that would allow me to have a microphone in my hand speaking to lots of people about something I’m passionate about, i.e., God, giving blood, the Royals, girls and self-esteem, eating healthy, and the list goes on.

Something few people know about me: I hate shopping.

Web site I’m always on: Extra Innings with the K Crew, of course!

If you had more spare time, what would you like to do?: Fill out more bios like this one.

Place I would most like to visit: The future.

Three words that describe me: Such a girl.

Do you have any pets?: I keep asking for a baby chimpanzee and people keep giving me stuffed ones.

Introduction: Check.

I’m already excited for the second date – same time, same place next week.
