The U.S. Postal Service plans to deliver packages in much of the metro area on Sunday, catching up from delays caused by Thursday’s storm and getting ahead of a second large storm expected late Sunday into Tuesday.

The condition of the road prevented the delivery of thousands of packages in the metro area Friday and Saturday, the Postal Service says. So it’s delivering packages on Sunday to communities served by these post offices: Independence, Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, Kansas City, Mo., Kansas City, Kan., Olathe, Shawnee Mission, Leavenworth and Lawrence.

For safety’s sake, residents are asked to clear away as much snow as they can from walkways, steps and porches and from around cluster mailboxes and rural mailboxes.
