UAW members and supporters will hold a rally at noon Saturday outside the office of U.S. Rep. Sam Graves office at 113 Bluejay Drive in Liberty.

The rally is being held to support the emergency assistance to the struggling U.S. auto industry.

UAW members are calling on Congress to immediately provide emergency loans to domestic auto companies to prevent a “catastrophic business failure” caused by the troubled economy, according to a statement released by the union.

“We’re appealing to Rep. Graves to vote in favor of Main Street manufacturing,” said Jim Wells, director of UAW Region 5, which includes Missouri. “We’ll lose hundreds of billions in tax revenues if these businesses fail. A bridge loan is a much better deal for taxpayers.”
