Apparently accidental shooting kills Oak Grove man

A 23-year-old Oak Grove man died late Friday from a reportedly accidental gunshot wound to the head, according to Oak Grove Police Chief Bob Muenz.

Brady Lowery was pronounced dead at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Officers at 10:45 p.m. Friday responded to a home in the 1300 block of S.E. Austin St. on a reported shooting.

Lowery was accidentally shot while another person was displaying a semi-automatic handgun, witnesses told police. They were at a small party at the house. Alcohol may have been a factor in the incident. Witnesses told officers was accidental, Muenz said in a statement.

The incident is still under investigation. Further information will be released when or if charges are filed against the identified shooter. Until that time, the shooter’s name will not be released by police.
