Today is an election day, and even though the ballot might not be full of issues and candidates, if you’re a voter, don’t forget to hit the polls.
Here’s what is on the ballot in Eastern Jackson County:
PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES
Democrat
- Barack Obama
- Randall Terry
- Darcy G. Richardson
- John Wolfe
(Note: 89 of the Democrats’ 102 delegates to the Democratic National Convention are pledged to contenders based on results from the primary. A candidate needs at least 15 percent to be allocated national delegates at either congressional district level or statewide level. The next step is a mass meeting March 29. GRAIN VALLEY SCHOOLS
Question:
Shall the Board of Education ... without an estimated increase in the current debt service property tax levy, borrow $3 million to provide funds for completion of the third phase of the building program to construct, equip and furnish school facilities at the Grain Valley North Middle School; to the extent of funds available, complete other improvements to the existing facilities of the district; and issue bonds for payment? If approved, the adjusted debt service levy is estimated to remain unchanged at $1.5933 per $100 of assessed valuation of real and personal property.
