The brother who remained at large since the body of a 48-year-old woman was found in a creek outside Garden City has turned himself in.
The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office said Marlin S. Gross, 49, of Lee’s Summit, charged with abandoning a corpse, turned himself into the sheriff’s department Wednesday night.
Marlin’s brother, Lance, is also charged with abandoning a corpse. He was taken into custody Saturday and led police to the body of Peggie Perez on Sunday. He appeared in court Monday and a $150,000 bond was set.
Perez, who was seeing Lance, reportedly died on Jan. 20 following a prior evening of rough sex. Lance told police that he injected the woman with Valium while they were having sex. He also used a red dog collar to choke her.
When he awoke, Perez was dead. Lance and his brother three days later transported the body to an area located in the 31000 block of T Highway, approximately 2 miles west of Garden City, Mo., and dumped her body.
The investigation continues, according to prosecutors.
