Independence man held in shooting

Jackson County prosecutors announced charges Friday against an Independence man who allegedly tried to shoot another man in Kansas City.


On Thursday, Richard L. Fisher, 21, supposedly pulled a handgun at a man at a house in the 8600 block of Thompson Avenue. The victim grabbed the barrel of the gun and deflected it just as Fisher fired, according to court records. Fisher admitted to Kansas City police that he fired several rounds from his .45-caliber handgun at the person, according to court papers. Prosecutors charged him with one count of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.


Fisher’s address is listed at being in the 8800 block of East Winner Road in Independence. He is being held at the Jackson County Detention center on $150,000 bond.
