Five Boy Scouts in Troop 692 in Blue Springs became Eagle Scouts in a court of honor ceremony Oct. 26 at Timothy Lutheran Church.
The new Eagles are Samuel Taylor Anderson, Ethan S. Clark, Ryan C. Easley, Jake Hickman and Neal Thomas.
SAMUEL ANDERSON
Samuel Taylor Anderson, 15, of Blue Springs, joined Pack 692 and earned his Arrow of Light on March 9, 2004, crossing over into Troop 692 that same month.
Sam has earned 39 merit badges and attended summer camp at Bartle Scout Reservation for five years. He has held several positions in the troop including Patrol Leader, Quartermaster and Scribe.
He is a warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He has earned the World Conservation Award and God and Country Award.
For his Eagle project, Sam led a team of 25 adults and Scouts in the beautification of the courtyard at Lucy Franklin Elementary School. Weeds were pulled, dirt and mulch placed, two trees planted and two picnic tables were built.
Sam is a sophomore at Blue Springs High School, where he is in the Golden Regiment Marching Band and is on the BSHS baseball team. He is an active member of First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs.
His parents are Dave and Shelly Anderson.
ETHAN S. CLARK
Ethan S. Clark, 16, of Blue Springs, began his trek to Eagle when he joined Tiger Cubs with Pack 692 in first grade, rising through the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, and Webelo. As a Webelo, he earned the God and Me religious pin and the Arrow of Light. He attended day camp at George Owens Nature Center and then Theodore Naish Scout Reservation as a Webelo. He crossed over to Troop 692 in March 2003, where he is a sixth year Scout. In July 2005, he attended Brownsea 22 Leadership training and has served in different leadership positions including assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, scribe, webmaster and chaplain’s aide. He has earned 46 merit badges.
Ethan also is a warrior in the tribe of Mic-O-Say.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project, he organized a group of Boy Scouts to do volunteer work at his church, Duncan Road Baptist Church. The Scouts did landscaping in the children’s play area, including moving dirt into a low area near the church’s foundation, refreshed mulch near the building, planted sod/grass seed and flowers, and built a picnic table.
Ethan attends Blue Springs High School where he is in marching band and track.

RYAN C. EASLEY
Ryan C. Easley, 16, of Blue Springs, joined Pack 813 and later transferred to Pack 692 where he earned the Arrow of Light award in March 2004 and crossed over to Troop 692 later that same month. He also earned the World Conservation Award in July 2006.
Ryan has earned 39 merit badges and attended summer camp at the Bartle Scout Reservation for the past 5 years. Ryan has held the troop leadership position of Librarian and is currently a Den Chief for Pack 692.
Ryan also has achieved the position of warrior in the Tribe of the Mic-O-Say.
Ryan's Eagle project involved directing a group of 9 scouts and 5 adults in the planting 150 trees in different areas of the Rotary Camp in Lee’s Summit.
Ryan is a sophomore at Blue Springs High School, where he is a member of the Golden Regiment Marching band and also is active in the German Club. Ryan is an active member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Independence.
His parents are Tom and Teresa Easley.
JAKE HICKMAN
Jake Hickman, 18, of Blue Springs, served on the staff at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation in 2007, working in the Ecology Lodge. He is a warrior and firebuilder in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Jake organized and led a food drive that canvassed 300 homes in Blue Springs and delivered more than 60 bags of grocery and personal items to the Blue Springs Community Services League Food Pantry.
Jake is a senior at Blue Springs High School, where he is involved in cross country and track.
His parents are Alan and Tammy Hickman.
NEAL THOMAS
Neal Thomas, 17, of Blue Springs, joined Pack 604 as a Tiger Cub in 1996, earning his Arrow of Light in 2002 and crossing over into Troop 205 in the spring of 2002. He attended 4 summer camps at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation and went on a High Adventure at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico before joining Troop 692.
With Troop 692 he attended 3 summer camps at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. He has held such leadership positions as Historian, Librarian, Quartermaster, Assistant Patrol Leader and Chaplain’s Aide.
Neal earned 53 merit badges and also received awards including the 50-Miler Award, 12 Month Camper, Internet Safety Award, Kayaking BSA, Snorkeling and the World Conservation Award. He is a Tom-Tom Beater in the tribe of Mic-O-Say and has also earned the Coup of the Long Trail.
For his Eagle Service Project, he led a group of boys and adults in the beautification and clearing of a wooded area at Liggett Trails Education Center. Fallen trees and limbs were cleared and prairie grass was re-seeded in the area to maintain its natural setting.
Neal is a senior at Blue Springs South High School where he has a 4.5 GPA. He has completed the A+ program and intends to pursue a career in engineering.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, FIRST Robotics Club, Spanish Club and the Strolling Strings in Orchestra.
