Silas Myrick, 16, the son of Scott and Vicki Myrick of Blue Springs has achieved the rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts of America.
He is the first Scout to receive the Eagle Scout award from Troop 605, which is sponsored by Plaza Heights Baptist Church in Blue Springs. He received the award on Nov. 2.
He joined Boy Scouts at age 13 in November 2004, and has been a quartermaster, patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, and senior patrol leader. He has camped four years at the H. Roe Bartle Reservation, near Osceola, Mo., and has 52 nights camping, and 13 total service hours.
Silas, a Brave in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, replaced the parking space stripes in the parking lot of his church, Plaza Heights Baptist, for his Eagle service project.
He attends Blue Springs South High School, is active in his church, and enjoys fishing, camping and hunting.
