Boy Scout Troop 223 is hosting a spaghetti dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community of Christ Stone Church, Lexington Avenue and River Boulevard, Independence.
The troop is raising money for summer camp as well as its next high adventure in south Colorado, in which the older Scouts will have two days of rafting, some hiking and visits to the Great Sand Dune National Park and the Air Force Academy.
The dinner includes spaghetti, salad, bread and drink. Tickets, available at the door, are $8 per person or $20 for a family of three or more. There will be a bake sale, raffle, music and a silent auction.
Boy Scout Troop 282 will hold its 58th Annual Pancake Day from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 409 N. Liberty St., Independence.
Enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, plus sausage, milk, coffee and orange drink for a $5 donation. There is no buffet line to wait in, we’ll take your order and serve you, restaurant style. Dine in or carry out.
Every ticket contains a coupon for a free small Sunday from McDonald’s, and your ticket stub will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a raffle prize. Tickets are available at the door. For advanced tickets, call Craig Gentry at 816-582-5282.
The fourth annual Boy Scout Chili Supper at North Spring United Methodist Church in Blue Springs will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The church is at 601 N.E. Jefferson St.
They will be serving chili and all the trimmings, crepes for dessert, and a drink. Vegetable soup and hot dogs will be available as an alternative. Tickets are $5 from any Cub Scout of Pack 306 or Boy Scout of Troop 306, both sponsored by North Spring UMC. There will be a free will offering available at the door. Proceeds from the chili supper will be used by the pack and troop to meet general operating expenses, including camperships for those who might not be able to otherwise go to summer camp.
In addition to the chili supper, there will be pie auction at noon to benefit the Outreach Program of the church. North Spring volunteers will be going a mission trip to Baldwin, La., in early August.
