Grain Valley, MO —

The Grain Valley Board of Aldermen meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month in the conference room at Grain Valley City Hall, 711 Main St.

The board met Monday, May 12, 2008, and took the following action (all unanimous unless noted.) Dollar amounts are rounded off.

Old business

• Approved a plan by the Grain Valley Chamber of Commerce to operate a fireworks stand June 27 through July 5 at U.S. 40 and Route BB.

• Heard a presentation by City Administrator Gary Bradley concerning compensation packages for city employees.

Ordinances and resolutions

• Approved an agreement with Wall-Pav, Inc. to be available for on-call concrete maintenance through 2008 at a cost of $29,684. The money is budgeted through the Public Works Department.

• Approved a contract with Systems Controls, Inc. to establish a left-turn signal at Sni-A-Bar Boulevard and Eagles Parkway at a cost of $12,850. The move is designed to improve traffic flow with vehicles headed northbound on Sni-A-Bar to turn westbound on Eagles Parkway.

• Approved terminating an agreement with L&B Development concerning sanitary sewer work. The change is due to a different method of charging and collecting hook-up fees. The agreement includes refunding fees of $26,600. The remaining balance due L&B will be paid over time from future fees collected from builders and developers. Alderman Mike Todd voted no to this proposal.

• Approved an agreement with LB & Company for the management of the Grain Valley Aquatics Center for the 2008 season. The cost of the contract is $13,585.

• Approved a resolution naming Mike Renau to the Grain Valley Planning and Zoning Commission. Renau had been serving on the Board of Zoning Adjustment until there was an opening on the Planning Commission.
