For the third time this month, the Subway sandwich shop at 1415 W. 23rd St. was robbed.

At 6:50 p.m. Monday, a black male walked into the restaurant. He wore all black clothing and a black mask.

The man pulled a semi-automatic handgun on the employee, according to Independence police, and demanded that the worker open the register. The employee complied and the robber emptied the cash, obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash.

There was a line of customers at the restaurant. The robber threatened customers to “not do anything,” according to police.

No one was injured.

The man exited the store and retreated the business in a dark colored Pontiac Bonneville. He was going west on 23rd Street toward Kansas City.

If anyone has information on this case, call the Independence Police Department at 816-325-7330 or the TIPS Hotline 816-474-TIPS.
