Two Eastern Jackson County legislators will chair key committees in the Missouri General Assembly.
Legislators convened this week, and Rep. Noel Torpey, R-Independence, was named chairman of the Small Business Committee.
In the Senate, Republican Will Kraus, whose district includes much of Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs, is the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.
Rep. Sheila Solon, R-Blue Springs, is vice chair of the House Veterans Committee.
Also, Rep. Mike Cierpiot, a Lee’s Summit Republican whose district includes parts of Independence and a sliver of western Blue Springs, moves up from a committee chairmanship to assistant majority floor leader.
