An Independence couple and a Lee's Summit man were injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 470.
The crash happened at 11:30 a.m. as a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Robert Schowengerdt, 68,of Independence was sitting in southbound traffic at the 11.2 mile marker because of a previous crash. Another southbound driver, Dennis C. Prather, 54, of Lee's Summit, ran into the back of Schowengerdt's vehicle with his 2004 Chevrolet.
The impact caused the Schowengerdt vehicle to overturn, coming to rest on its wheels.
Robert Schowengerdt and Sherry Showengerdt, 66, as well as Prather were all taken to Centerpoint Medical Center with moderate injuries. All were buckled in.
