In the news: Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is taking heat for comments made in a secretly recorded video at a private fundraiser. In the most talked-about comments from the video, Romney said, "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

Happening today: Today is World Water Monitoring Day, an annual event to raise awareness about water usage and water quality.

Gas update: GasBuddy.com reports that the highest prices are in New York ($4.115), Illinois ($4.119), California ($4.125), Connecticut ($4.138) and Hawaii ($4.400).

Motivational quote: “Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” - Will Rogers
