The Sugar Creek Board of Aldermen met Monday, May 12, 2008. Alderman Dennis Onka was absent. The board took the following action:
• Honored the Pavola sisters, Joan Kolich and Maryagnes Onka, as family of the year in Sugar Creek.
• Recognized Sugar Creek Police Chief Herb Soule as part of National Police Week.
• Approved creation of an enhanced enterprise board for city of Sugar Creek.
• Postponed until June 9 an ordinance that would increase the mayor’s monthly pay from $800 to $2,000 for performing extra duties.
• Postponed until June 9 an ordinance that would allow each alderman $100 reimbursement for expenses each month.
• Approved the first reading of an ordinance approving the first amendment to a lease agreement between the city and BP Products North America and an agreement regarding the BP pipeline.
• Approved purchase of a server rack not to exceed $6,500 from Diamond Computers for city hall.
• Approved letter agreement between city and Springsted Inc. to provide financial advisory services pertaining to the Sugarland Tax Increment Financing district.
• Approved agreement with Miller, Haviland and Ketter for Tax Increment Financing cost certification services.
• Nominated Kathy Liggett and Chuck Mikulich for Jackson Board of Equalization.
• Nominated Paul Olinskey for the MML Civic Leadership Award.
