I-29 crash kills Independence woman

An Independence woman was killed early Sunday in a one-vehicle crash in Platte County.

Jessica A. Kruger, 21, was driving a 1995 Ford F-250 pickup north on Interstate 29 when for an unknown reason, she ran off the right side of the highway at the 3 mile marker, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She overcorrected and her pickup veered back across the traffic lanes and hit the concrete medial barrier, then overturned. The crash happened at 3:50 a.m.

Kruger, who was traveling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the patrol, she was not wearing a seat belt.
