It might feel like spring today, but it won’t last.

The National Weather Service reports a temperature of 50 in Independence at mid-morning, possibly heading for 65, which would tie the record for this date. Winds out of the south at 17 to 22 mph could gust to 31. Those high breezes last into the evening, and the overnight low is 33.

Saturday is a different story – a high of just 37, headed to 20 overnight. The Weather Service doesn’t have snow in the metro forecast but does say there’s a chance of light snow south of a line from Olathe to Kirksville, Mo. That storm is expected to mostly hit southern Missouri roughly along Interstate 44, but parts of central Missouri could get an inch of snow late Saturday night.

In the metro area, it will be winterlike for a few days, and after Saturday it might not get above freezing until Tuesday.

Officially, the Weather Service recorded 0.24 inches of rain Thursday at KCI.

The forecast:

• Today, partly sunny, high near 65. South wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Tonight, breezy, partly cloudy, low around 33.

• Saturday, partly clear day and evening, high near 37, low around 20. The wind turns around and comes out of the north northwest-wind.

• Sunday, mostly sunny, 30/16.

• Monday, sunny, 32/19.

• Tuesday, mostly sunny, 36/24.

• Wednesday, mostly sunny, 41/26.
