It’s not easy beating experience.
But Susan Culpepper, candidate for Blue Springs District 3, gave it a shot.
According to unofficial election results, Culpepper fell to incumbent Ron Fowler by about 20 percent of the 1,669 votes cast in the district.
Fowler garnered 1,001, or 59.98 percent, of the votes, while Culpepper snagged 663, or 39.72 percent, of the votes.
“It’s tough to go against someone who’s been on so long,” Culpepper said of her opponent, Fowler. “That’s 100 percent the reason.”
Culpepper said she will continue to serve on the Planning Commission. Whether or not she runs again for City Council remains up in the air.
“I’ll have to sleep on it,” she said.
Fowler could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
