The Sugar Creek Board of Aldermen met Monday, June 23, 2008. Mayor Stan Salva was absent with Alderman Joseph Kenney presiding as mayor pro tem. The board took the following action:
•Presented Oath of Office to Reserve Officer Scott Thurman.
•Approved ordinance between city and Diamond Companies for the repair of the 2007 refuse truck at a cost of $8,997.37 excluding insurance.
•Approved ordinance between the city and Cornell Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc. for repair of city hall roof at cost of $31,980.
•Approved ordinance between city and ROS Office Furniture to furnish new Sugar Creek Police and Fire Station at a cost not to exceed $91,000.
•Declined a business license to Billy and Cheri Tharp at 12403 E. Park Street for Billy’s Mobile Homes, Inc. Dennis Onka and Stan Sagehorn voted for it, and Patrick Casey and Joseph Kenney voted against it.
•Approved a transfer of 8 feet of right-of-way property from the city to Steven and Donna Luttrell. The property is in the William Henry Harrison Sunset subdivision.
•Withdrew an ordinance between city and Wil-Pav for work at 11411 and 11409 Gill St. for concrete work at Woodside Glen, a residential redevelopment.
•Declined the purchase of a 20-passenger handicapped-accessible vehicle from Missouri Department of Transportation. Dennis Onka and Stan Sagehorn voted against it.
•Approved an ordinance between the city and Anlab for a subsurface investigation of the city storage lot, 803 N. Sterling Ave., at a cost of $7,525. Ten borings must be drilled to assess the degree of soil contamination.
•Approved the city-wide garage sale for September 5 and 6.
•Nominated Mark Schelling to replace Andy Vajda on the Sugar Creek Planning and Zoning Commission.
•Nominated Bob and Jake Welch as the 2008 Truman Heartland Citizen of the Year in Sugar Creek.
•Approved escrow agreement between city and JLP Sugarland, Inc. in the amount of $193,204.05.
