The GFWC Nu-Era Study Club met recently at the First Baptist Church with Florence Cole and Myla Gentry as co-hostesses.
Rebekah Stewart, Truman High School, reported on her experiences at the Missouri Leadership Seminar. Sue Harris, president, presided over the business session. Officers for the 2008-2010 administration were installed by Beverly Shelton, past club, district and state president.
The new officers are: Kathleen Palermo, president; Margaret Carnahan, first vice president; Patricia Shelton, second vice president; Judith Carl, recording secretary; Anna Mills, corresponding secretary; Myla Gentry, treasurer; and Eleanor Storey, historian.
Six members of the club recently attended the General Federation of Women’s Club of Missouri Convention in Columbia – Burdina Bobbitt, Jackie Engman, Sue Harris, Kathleen Palermo, Beverly Shelton and Patricia Shelton. New state and district officers were installed by the president-elect of the General Federation, Rose Ditto of Wamego, Kan., which included Jackie Engman as corresponding secretary of the GFWC of Missouri; new second district officers: Sue Harris, president; Kathleen Palermo, first vice president; and Patricia Shelton, corresponding secretary.
Kathleen Palermo received first place awards on her poem and one of her photographs. Her photograph will go on to Washington, D.C., for judging in the international competition. The club also received a top award, a purple ribbon, on their 2007-2008 yearbook.
