Mid-Continent Public Library has been awarded a state grant of $11,643 for digital imaging.
Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan announced the grant award Thursday, along with several other awards passing along federal grant money to public libraries in Missouri.
MCPL will partner with the Jackson County Historical Society, to expand its collection of Jackson County and Kansas City plat books to include additional plat books, atlases and maps for Jackson County, dated prior to 1930.
The secretary of state’s digital imaging grants are funded by the Library Services & Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.
The Missouri State Library has approved 103 grant applications this year, distributing $897,042 in federal funds to libraries throughout Missouri.
