The Kansas City Cappies is preparing its performances of the annual summer musical. This year, the production is “Xanadu.”
Each summer, the Kansas City Cappies offers the opportunity for all of their participants to audition for the Cappies Summer Musical. The Cappies cast all of the actors, singers, dancers and theater technicians from area Kansas City schools.
The students received their scripts and music in early June. Then the production is put together through a two week rehearsal period in July, where the students work eight hours a day to learn the music and choreography, build the sets, sew the costumes and prepare for other aspects of the show.
Performances of “Xanadu” will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Belton High School’s Forum Theater. Tickets are $10 each. Reservations can be made by calling 1-877-902-2779, ext. 107.
