The 40-year-old Independence man who died in a car wreck Sunday afternoon has been identified.
Police said Cole Phillips of Independence was eastbound on Blue Ridge Boulevard near Hardy at about 3:10 p.m. Sunday when his car went off the road and struck a tree. He was the sole occupant.
