Lee’s Summit North and Lee’s Summit West as well as the Summit Technology Academy have been selected to receive national Platinum High Achievement Awards. This is based on the success of local school leaders and teachers in improving school practices and raising student achievement.
Summit Technology Academy was selected as a national Technology Centers That Work Platinum High Achievement Center. Lee’s Summit North and Lee’s Summit West were both selected as national High Schools That Work (HSTW) Platinum High Achievement Schools.
Summit Technology Academy was among three TCTW centers to receive the 2012 Technology Centers That Work Platinum High Achievement Award. This honor is the highest recognition a school can earn through the program. The two high schools were two of 16 HSTW schools to receive the 2012 HSTW Platinum High Achievement Award, also the program’s top award.
To be recognized as a TCTW and HSTW Platinum High Achievement Award winner, schools must meet a variety of criteria. Platinum High Achievement schools implement the TCTW and HSTW design, teach students a rigorous academic curriculum linked to a program of study and have high student achievement. In addition, the HSTW Platinum High Achievement Award criteria includes high graduation rates and meeting the Adequate Yearly Progress (standards of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
