Parents in the Grain Valley School District must once again provide proof of residency. The annual requirement helps to ensure that only children living within the school district boundaries are attending district schools.
Parents have the option of mailing a copy of a recent gas, electric or water utility bill to the Grain valley Central Office. Copies can be mailed to Brad Welle, P.O. Box 304, Grain Valley, Mo. 64029. Proof of residency can also be emailed to pstricklin@grainvalley.k12.mo.us. The final option is to show a recent utility bill in person at the annual proof of residency open house from 2 to 8 p.m. July 24 and from 8 a.m. to noon July 25. Both events are at Grain Valley South Middle School.
Families will need to park behind the school and enter the south doors. Families new to Grain Valley can also enroll their children during this time. Offices at the four elementary schools, two middle schools and the high school will be open beginning July 25.
The first day of school is Aug. 15.
