The Independence Square is sponsoring its third annual hot dog eating contest July 26 to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs. The contest is at 7:30 p.m., just before “The Muppets” Moonlight Movie, on the Pharaoh Theatre parking lot at the corner of Maple Avenue and Liberty Street.
The winner will receive a $300 cash prize. Second and third place contestants will receive McClain Restaurant gift certificates.
Early registration is $15, and the fee is $20 after 5 p.m. Thursday. Registration includes a T-shirt. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, and they must sign the liability waiver and release for use of images for promotional purposes.
