The Missouri Mavericks will begin the 2012-13 season at 7 p.m. tonight in Denver, where they will take on the expansion Cutthroat.

While coach Scott Hillman’s team is down to a 20-man roster, it is not a finished product.

“I think it is safe to say that we will not carry three goaltenders the entire season,” Hillman said by phone from Denver. “We signed Austin Lee as a free agent and (Mike) Clemente and (Mathieu) Corbeil were assigned to us.

“Mike will be in the net Friday. All three are rookies, but Mike played six games in the AHL last season after he graduated from Brown, so he has the most experience and he will be in the net to try and get us our first win of the 2012 season.”

To pare the roster to 20, the Mavericks waived forwards Jordan Foreman and Jason Dixon and placed last year’s starting defenseman Dave Pszenyczny on injured reserve.

Missouri also signed forward Kellan Tochkin to a five-game tryout, giving the Mavericks a 20-man roster.

Check back later for more information on the Mavericks' season opener.
