Orchid lovers are gathered this weekend at the Hilton Garden Inn in Independence.
As part of the “Haunting Beauty” orchid show and sale, the public is invited to view the hundreds of blooming orchid plants, ranging from big and gaudy to tiny and bizarre.
The show is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The show has participants from orchid societies from St. Louis, Omaha, Springfield, Mo., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Springdale, Ark., as well as vendors from California to Connecticut. For more information, go to http://kcorchidshow.org/.
