The Great Plains SPCA was recently awarded a $100,000 grant to trap, neuter and release up to 2,400 cats in the 64050 zip code of Independence.

The organization is hosting an informational meeting about the program, scheduled to take place over two years, at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Stone Church, 1012 Lexington Ave., in Independence. The public is invited to attend.

If residents know of someone who is feeding stray cats in zip code 64050, they are encouraged to attend the meeting or to call the Great Plains SPCA office at 913-742-7311.
