Registration is open for online classes to be offered this fall through Missouri’s virtual school.
A total of 199 fall K-12 classes will be offered through the Missouri Virtual Instruction Program (MoVIP). The cost for each class ranges from $200 to $445.
MoVIP’s 16 fall sessions of 18-week classes have staggered start dates, with two sessions already under way. The next available session begins on Sept. 4. The last session will begin Dec. 18. Classes are self-paced, which allows students to cover class material at a fast rate.
The 2012-13 catalog features a variety of courses, including six foreign languages and 19 advanced placement courses. All courses are taught by Missouri-certified teachers and are aligned with Missouri’s Core Academic Standards.
MoVIP is administered by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, but courses are provided by five vendors that deliver K-12 online classes throughout the country.
Launched in 2007 as a state-funded program, MoVIP is currently tuition-based. However, state statute allows public school districts to offer instruction in a virtual setting outside of regular district facilities and to receive state aid for that class.
For a complete list of fall courses and registration details, visit www.movip.org or contact Steve Schellman, supervisor of educational support services, at 573-751-5882 or by email at steve.schellman@dese.mo.gov.
