A former Blue Springs youth soccer coach was formally sentenced to 15 years in prison today on three counts of first-degree child molestation.

Richard G. Burroughs, 44, had agreed to a 15-year sentence when he pleaded guilty to the charges on June 11. The three 15-year sentences will run concurrently.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said the Department of Corrections Sex Offender Assessment Unit will evaluate Burroughs to determine his eligibility for probation.

Burroughs, who coached girls soccer, admitted to molesting two of the girls at his home and the third at the girl’s home.
