The Independence Animal Shelter is now open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Animal adoptions at the shelter, 875 S. Vista Ave., begin at 11 a.m. The change, which took effect on Monday, should make it more convenient for families to reconnect with a lost pet or to adopt a new pet, Health Department Director Larry Jones said.
