It’s not every day that you get to see a real, live dog inside a public library.
But at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the North Independence Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library, adults and children alike will have that opportunity during the program Service Dogs in Action.
Children and families will learn about assistance dogs as Wayside Waifs teaches how the dogs are chosen, raised and trained. Children also will be able to meet a real service dog.
Martha, from the PBS Kids show “Martha Speaks,” also is scheduled to make a special appearance. Families will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Martha, and one family also will win tickets to Schlitterbahn, courtesy of KCPT.
Visit www.mymcpl.org/events for more information. North Independence Branch is at 317 W. U.S. 24.
