A new addition is coming to Santa-Cali-Gon Days this year.
The Independence Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday announced the addition of a wine garden, at the corner of Osage Street and Truman Road, at the 40th annual festival Aug. 31 through Sept. 3.
The wine garden proceeds will go to serve the Community Services League and its mission of empowering families to move from poverty to self-sufficiency.
“The Community Services League is thrilled to partner with the Independence Chamber to bring Santa-Cali-Gon patrons a relaxing wine garden,” Doug Cowan, CSL’s chief development officer, said in a news release. “We think the garden will be a great addition to this already-outstanding festival. All proceeds will help families in Eastern Jackson County with emergency services, such as food, clothing, shelter, medicine, school supplies and Christmas presents.”
