Alicia Jackson, a counselor at Truman High School, has been named the Missouri School Counselors Association’s state counselor of the year.
The Missouri School Counselor Association honors one outstanding school counselor from each level every year at its fall conference. The award recipients are selected based upon four criteria - innovation, leadership and service to the school community. All nomination packets are scored blind (all identifying information is eliminated) and follow a publicized rubric. Award winners must be practicing school counselors and members of the Missouri School Counselor Association. State winners will be nominated for consideration for the national school counselor of the year through the American School Counselor Association.
Alicia Jackson previously won the Greater Kansas City School Counselors Association Counselor of the Year Award in April.
