Seven individuals – so far – have expressed interest in candidacy for the vacant Independence City Council at-large seat.
Through Tuesday, the following men had picked up packets at the city clerk’s office: Patrick Cierpiot, Gary Hisch, Rodney Patridge, Cecil A. Vaughan Jr., Brian Heagy and Michael Baker.
Chris Whiting has filed with the city clerk for the At-Large Council Member seat. The deadline for filing the nominating petitions is at 5 p.m. Aug. 17.
Lucy Young resigned her at-large council position last month, leaving a vacant seat on the council.
