The Missouri Department of Transportatiion continues to work on a new ramp to take traffic from U.S. 40 onto northbound Interstate 435.
As part of that work, the ramp onto northbound I-435 from nearby westbound I-70 has been closed for several days with a detour taking drivers west to Manchester Trafficway and then doubling back. That detour is scheduled to last through Wednesday.
The new 40-to-435 ramp is on schedule to be done by July 1, MoDOT says. It's the final piece of the agency's rebuilding of the I-70/I-435 interchange, which MoDOT has called the busiest in the metro area. Direct access between U.S. 40 and I-435 is meant to take some traffic off I-70. Also, the widening of I-70 to three lanes each way last year is meant to speed the flow of traffic.
