Independence, get ready to try your new transit system.
On Saturday, local transit riders will have the opportunity to try Independence’s new bus system before it goes live.
The city of Independence and First Transit are hosting Try-A-Ride for IndeBus, the new Independence local bus transit system. The routes begin operating between 8 and 9 a.m. and will end between 11 a.m. and noon. Schedules and route maps for Try-A-Ride can be found on the city’s website at www.independencemo.org/indebus.
During Try-A-Ride, IndeBus buses will operate on their new alignments for the first two round trips of the day. IndeBus riders will be able to ride free during this event to become familiar with the routes and stops. IndeBus bus stop signs will be installed and will be operational. Regular fares will still apply on KCATA buses.
