The city of Blue Springs has opened Vesper Hall as a cooling center in response to the heat advisory for Jackson County.
Residents can seek shelter at the facility, located at 400 N.W. Vesper St., during normal operating hours, which are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
