Lee’s Summit School District Transportation Department employees recently captured awards in the 2012 Missouri School Bus Safety Competition.
Linda Bishop received a fourth place trophy in the experienced conventional division. David Owens received a fifth place trophy in the rookie conventional division, and Michael Sacher received a second place trophy in the rookie conventional division.
The team consisting of Linda Bishop, Jennifer Stuerke and David Owens won a fifth place trophy as a result of their combined scores. In all, 65 school bus drivers from across the state participated in the annual event which includes written test, pre-trip inspection test and a 10-event precision driving course.
School bus drivers from Lee’s Summit who participated in the competition were - Linda Bishop, Tammy Myers, David Owens, Debra Piatt, Michael Sacher and Jennifer Stuerke. Regina Hancock, Lee’s Summit Transportation Department safety instructor and Linda Thompson, Transportation Department director, served as event judges.
