The 39th Street Transportation Development District in Independence is holding its annual meeting Tuesday afternoon.
It’s at 4 p.m. inside Conference Room A at City Hall, 111 E. Maple Ave. The TDD is now in its 10th year. Independence voters within the district created it in 2002 to improve 39th Street.
The Bass Pro Shops development, Independence Center, Independence Commons, Bolger Square and Eastland are among the major retail developments where the TDD’s one-eighth cent sales tax is in effect.
Projects funded through the TDD include the addition of two right-turn lanes and the widening of lanes on 39th Street and Lee’s Summit Road and the extension of 39th Street to Pink Hill Road.
