The temperatures might be dangerously hot, but the Independence Health Department is still planning for the fourth installment of “The Mile Starts Here” on Wednesday.

The mile-long walk, part of the Building a Healthier Independence initiative, starts at 9 a.m. at Santa Fe Trail Park, 2731 S. Santa Fe Road. The Health Department will have water available for the participating walkers.

No walk will take place next Wednesday because of the Fourth of July holiday. The walks will resume July 11 at Waterfall Park, 4501 S. Bass Pro Drive, and continue through Sept. 26.
