“American Idol” winner and Blue Springs South High School graduate David Cook will take part in the MLB All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run on Sunday.

Cook, the season 7 winner on “American Idol” and platinum recording artist, will run, hand out medals and congratulate participants as they cross the finish line in the 5K, which will benefit three cancer charities – Prostate Cancer Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer and the Greater Kansas City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The 5K will begin at 7:30 a.m., immediately followed by the 1-mile Fun Run at 8 a.m. All registered finishers receive a commemorative Al-Star medal and T-shirt. Registration is still open through 5 p.m. Wednesday and early bird pricing ends today. The 5K price is $30 per person for adults and $25 for children ages 12 and younger. Cost for the Fun Run is $25 for adult and $20 for ages 12 and younger.

On-site registration and race packet pick-up will be noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and beginning at 5 a.m. Sunday at Power and Light, KC Live! downtown. Register online at www.allstargame.com/5k.
