With less than a week remaining until the filing deadline, two individuals have filed for election in the vacant Independence City Council at-large seat.
On Friday, Independence lawyer Patrick Cierpiot filed with the city clerk’s office, joining Chris Whiting, who filed last week. The deadline for filing the nominating petitions is by 5 p.m. Friday.
Through Monday, the following men had picked up packets at the city clerk’s office: Gary Hisch, Rodney Patridge, Cecil A. Vaughan Jr., Brian Heagy and Michael Baker.
Lucy Young resigned her at-large council position last month, leaving a vacant seat on the council.
